How to help pkg-kde team
So, you would like to help us bringing the best KDE experience possible to Debian users? That sounds great! We present here some ways to get involved.
Meet us on IRC
First, you should join IRC channel #debian-qt-kde on irc.debian.org. This is the place where we meet and work on KDE-related packages in Debian. It is a good starting point: you'll be able to work on what you're interested on, discuss your ideas, fix bugs, etc.
Subscribe to mailing lists
You can also subscribe to some of our mailing lists:
- debian-qt-kde
- Discussion and coordination among maintainers of Debian's Qt, KDE and dependent or related packages.
- pkg-kde-extras
- List for the maintainers of stuff under pkg-kde/kde-extras. (Archives)
- pkg-kde-talk
- This list is a coordination channel for the upcoming KDE Packaging Team. (Archives)
- pkg-kde-commits
- This list receives commit logs from svn.debian.org/pkg-kde. (Archives)
- pkg-kde-bugs-fwd
- This list receives traffic from bugs.kde.org affecting forwarded bugs. (Archives)
Join the project
If you like what we do, and intend to work on KDE for Debian for a somewhat longer time, you should become a member of the Debian Qt/KDE Maintainers project on Alioth.
Alioth is Debian's forge. If you don't have an account yet, go and register. Afterwards, log in and request to join our team.
One of the team administrators will (probably ;-) approve your request. If you are not a member of any other project, you might have to wait up to 24 hours in order your account be granted the appropiate permissions. The administrador will also give you writing access to the repository areas you need (by editing pkg-kde/scripts/svn-hooks/commit-access-control.cfg and then svn up'ing /svn/pkg-kde/hooks on Alioth).
Have a lot of fun!
